Job seekers need to be referred by an Intreo Employment Service Officer (ESO) or a Local Employment Service (LES) Mediator.

What Services are offered by EmployAbilityService Cork?
EmployAbilityService Cork offers a comprehensive job matching and employment support service for people with a disability. This may involve assistance in identifying prospective employers and job vacancies as well as help with curriculum vitae, job applications and interview coaching.
Once you are in work we can then provide appropriate ongoing support for each individual; this may include help in applying for employment grants or advice and guidance on any accommodations you may be entitled to in the workplace.
Our support service is discreet and tailored to the needs of each of our clients in enabling them to move towards independence in their pursuit of a successful career.
Am I eligible for the service?
In order to be eligible for the service a person would need to be at least 18 years of age, have an injury, illness, disability or medical condition or, be a member of the travelling community and require support to find, secure and maintain paid work in the open labour market. They would need to be a resident of Cork City or County. We can also help people who already have a job but are facing difficulties as a result of illness or disability.
Is the service suitable for me?
Our service is suitable for any person with a disabling condition who is able and willing, with support, to work at least 8 hours a week in open employment; and who has the required training and education for their chosen career.
How do I get referred?
You must seek a referral through an Intreo Employment Service Officer, either at an Intreo office in Cork City or at one of the clinics held fortnightly or monthly throughout Cork County. Residents of Cork City may alternatively seek a referral at their Local Employment Service
What happens after my referral?
Once we have received your referral from Intreo or the LES we will write to you straight away to inform you how long you will be on our waiting list; usually between 2 – 3 months. You will then be allocated a Job Coach who will contact you to arrange an initial meeting; and at this point your needs assessment will commence. Your progress into employment and subsequent support will be clearly planned and agreed at each stage in the process.
What is a Job Coach?
A Job Coach is someone who works on a one to one basis with their clients in order to provide each with an individual package of support. This support package takes into account each person’s attributes and aspirations whilst planning how to address the barriers they may face in gaining and maintaining employment.
Will my Social Welfare payment be affected?
It is likely that once you are in paid work your benefits will be affected in some way; but not in every case. For this reason we look in detail at each person’s individual social welfare entitlements in advance of them taking up a job; and help them to work out what they may expect to face as they move into employment.
